This is a 1938 Silver Twenty Centavos from the Philippines while it was a Commonwealth of the United States. It was struck at the Manila mint. The obverse has the familiar female standing beside hammer and anvil. The reverse has an eagle with wings open above shield. The date and M mint mark are on the reverse.
This is the semi-key date with a low mintage of 3,000,000. Many of these coins were lost when the Japanese invaded and occupied the Philippines during WW11.
This coin weighs 4.0000 grams,
is 0.7500 fine,
and contains 0.0965 ounces of silver.
It is in brilliant uncirculated condition, with lots of mint luster. The reverse has a die crack at the 2 o’clock position, extending from the rim for about 0.5 cm. The reverse also has the
normal, soft strike, that is commonly found on these coins.
